How to print certificates on A4 or US Letter
Set paper to A4 or Letter and choose landscape or portrait in the template editor before you download. PDF keeps vector text. If you need an image for a printer, choose PNG or JPG and set the size to Print, which is 300 dpi.
Page sizes
A4 landscape is 297 by 210 mm. A4 portrait swaps those sides. US Letter landscape is 279.4 by 215.9 mm. Portrait swaps those sides. The layout is rebuilt for the page rather than stretched.
PDF versus image
PDF is the better default for a print shop or a home printer because the type stays sharp. PNG and JPG are raster. Screen is 150 dpi and Print is 300 dpi. A 300 dpi Letter page is a large image, so the ZIP can be heavy.
Margins
The certificate art includes its own border inside the page. When you print the PDF, choose actual size or 100 percent scale if your printer dialog offers fit-to-page. Fit-to-page is a printer setting, not something this site controls.
Steps
- 1.Choose paper and orientation. Do this before you spend time nudging positions. A paper change rebuilds positions and keeps text, fonts, colors, and hidden flags.
- 2.Preview the row with the longest name. The recipient line can shrink so the name stays on the page.
- 3.Download PDF, or Print-sized PNG or JPG. JPG quality can be lowered if the ZIP is too large. PNG does not use that slider.
- 4.Print at 100 percent. Open the PDF and print one certificate before you print the whole set.
Free covers 10 certificates per batch, with a small sheetcerts mark. Batch pass is $5 once for up to 200, without the mark. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year, up to 500 a month, with saved templates. Team is $39 a month or $390 a year, up to 3,000 a month, with a public check page.
Open the editor and bring your spreadsheet.
Questions
Can I set a custom page size?
No. The choices are A4 and US Letter, each in landscape or portrait.
Does 300 dpi change the PDF?
No. The dpi control applies to PNG and JPG only.
Why does the preview not look identical to the printed page?
The preview uses the same millimetre positions and the same text as the download. A printer can still scale the page if you leave fit-to-page on. The on-screen preview is also scaled to the window.
