How to make certificates from Google Sheets

In Google Sheets, use File, Download, and choose CSV or Microsoft Excel. Upload that file to sheetcerts, edit the template, and download the certificates. sheetcerts does not sign in to Google and does not read a live sheet.

Download, then upload

A live link to a Google Sheet is not fetched. If you change the sheet later, download it again and upload the new file. That keeps the data on your machine until you choose a file.

Sharing settings do not matter

Because the site never opens the Google URL, the sheet can stay private. What matters is the file you download to your computer.

Dates

Format the date column as you want it printed, or as plain text, before you download. The certificate shows the cell text it receives. It does not reformat a date into a new locale by itself.

Steps

  1. 1.Check the header row. Freeze or leave row 1 as headers. Remove a title row above the headers, or the title will be read as column names.
  2. 2.Download CSV or XLSX. CSV is fine when your names use UTF-8. Excel is fine if you prefer one workbook.
  3. 3.Upload it in the tool. Map columns, preview a row, and edit the template text.
  4. 4.Download the certificate ZIP. Store that ZIP wherever you keep event files. Keep the ZIP with your event files.

Free covers 10 certificates per batch, with a small sheetcerts mark. Batch pass is $5 once for up to 200, without the mark. Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year, up to 500 a month, with saved templates. Team is $39 a month or $390 a year, up to 3,000 a month, with a public check page.

Open the editor and bring your spreadsheet.

Questions

Can I connect a Google account?

No. Sign-in is for your sheetcerts account. It does not connect to Google Sheets.

What about Google Forms responses?

Forms can send responses to a Sheet. Download that Sheet. There is no direct Forms integration.

The names lost their accents in CSV. What happened?

Download CSV as UTF-8, or download Excel instead. The certificate fonts can print the accents when the file still contains them.
